“Let the children come to me…”

(Mark 10:14)

DREAMINGWONDERING  and EXPLORING were the exciting driving forces behind the first ever Discovery Day for the Over Wyre Benefice.
The Church Hall of St. Oswald’s Preesall, was the venue of choice.

The day, led by Pioneer Minister, Reverend Naomi Barraclough, provided a chance to focus on children, families and young people and explore how all ages can worship together.  It inspired some thinking on why intergenerational worship is important, what that may look like in the future and how the Benefice can make it happen.  It created an opportunity to gather information about where we are at the moment on our Vision Journey and how we can move forward.

A variety of activities helped to channel and challenge our thinking: a Prayer Zone, Resource Zone, Activity Zone, Community Zone and Discovery Zone all prompted us to prioritise and evaluate what is most important to us now and reimagine a Benefice for the future where ALL people and ALL generations feel welcome and belong.

A safe Play Zone for the little ones was a fun space and enabled them to burn off some energy whilst a Refreshment Zone provided the adults with some vital energy to fuel their thinking!

Over the coming weeks and months, the activity resources from the Discovery Day will travel round the Benefice churches as part of the information gathering process. There will be many more opportunities to engage with this exciting conversation and to help shape our Church of the future.
